READ: Lion dives into Arabian sea but gets rescued

Keeping aside the dramatic quotient, these forest department officials should be really proud of themselves for saving the life of a lion!

An Asiatic lion sitting on the edge of the rock on the beach of is sure set to create a buzz among the onlookers, but what happened when the animal just jumped into the Arabian sea?

The presence of a lion was enough to bring many shutterbugs to the Jafrabad Port in Gujarat but when the animal dived into the Arabian sea, few fishermen present there rushed to the forest department and informed about the incident.

Catering to the situation immediately, the forest department officials successfully rescued the endangered animal after sedating it. The body of the 400 lb animal has been sent for medical examination in an animal care centre.

The lion had apparently strayed into the port area from the nearby forest of the Gir National Park. An investigation has been launched to find out how the lion managed to stray 20 miles from the sanctuary to the busy, heavily inhabited port area.
