Manchester United take on Chelsea at Old Trafford as speculation mounts that Louis van Gaal's reign at the Red Devils could be set to end. Chelsea are unbeaten in their last eight league and cup games against Manchester United. Kick-off: 17:30

Under-fire Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has decided to restore captain Wayne Rooney to his side for Monday's match against Chelsea.
Rooney came off the bench for the second half of United's clash at Stoke on Boxing Day, but was unable to turn the tide and Van Gaal's men lost their fourth game in a row.

Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger returns from suspension for the game against the Blues and defender Matteo Darmian makes his return from a hamstring injury, but Jesse Lingard (hamstring), Marcos Rojo (shoulder), Antonio Valencia (foot) and Luke Shaw (leg) are out.

Team: De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Young; Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger; Mata, Herrera, Martial; Rooney (c) Subs: Romero, Borthwick-Jackson, Pereira, Jones, Carrick, Fellaini, Memphis.

No Costa for Chelsea
Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink is without Diego Costa for Monday's trip to Old Trafford after the striker picked up a suspension in the 2-2 draw against Watford.

Hiddink has also spoken of his belief that Radamel Falcao lacks match fitness, so Loic Remy is likely to start in Costa's absence.

Eden Hazard and Jon Obi Mikel came on as substitutes against Watford so are in contention to start - possibly at the expense of Cesc Fabregas, who came off at half-time.

Team: Courtois; Ivanovic, Zouma, Terry (c), Azpilicueta; Mikel, Matic; Willian, Oscar, Pedro; Hazard. Subs: Begovic, Baba Rahman, Djilobodji, Ramires, Loftus-Cheek, Traore, Kenedy
