The verification exercise involved the process of document review, ‎quality assurance that include cross checking of photocopies of relevant documents and siting of originals and biometric capturing of pensioners and in some cases Next of Kins (NOKs).

No fewer than 30 biometric capturing ‎machines are being used for the exercise in Kaduna centre which is holding at the Kaduna police officers mess.

Mr Anthony Makama, one of the pensioners in his testimony expressed satisfaction with the exercise. He said, he retired in 1996 and was receiving his pension ever since until it was stopped in 2010.

According to the man who said he was in his late seventies, life has not been easy with him ever since his pension was stopped, but commended his son whom he said has been providing his needs ever since then.
“I am happy with the exercise, because with this exercise now, I’m sure that my pension will be paid at the end of the day,” he noted.

On his part, Ezekiel Dele Akinyoade who until he retired voluntarily in 1986 , worked with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), said his pension was regular until it was stopped at some points.

“I’m happy with this exercise, the arrangement for the exercise is wonderful unlike what was obtainable in the past where similar exercise was carried out under the sun.

“The arrangement of this exercise is hitch free, we are kept under canopies and we were well taken care of, I pray this will continue.”

Also speaking on the exercise, the State Assistant Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners Kaduna State chapter, Ja’afaru Yususf said, although there were some hitches from the onset of the exercise occasioned by the arrangement to control the crowd, he said the situation was immediately addressed and the exercise going on smoothly.

He said, the exercise will reduce fraud in pension industries, unlike previous exercises.
