Coaches Who Need To Prove A Point In NPFL This Season

The 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League witnessed some tactically astute managers deliver top notch knowledge of the game (football), leading their respective teams to greater heights.

But with a new season just around the corner, lovers of the local league are expecting to see more managers translate their ability and knowledge of the game into remarkable success in the football world.
It is in this regard, Naij.com has compiled a list of managers to watch out for as the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League gets underway in some couple of days.

1. Kennedy Boboye – Abia Warriors

What Kennedy Boboye could achieve last season with Sunshine Stars is commendable and deserves him a place on this list.

For the first time since 2011, Sunshine Stars jostled for the league title last season but choked towards the end of the season (when it mattered the most).
Boboye led Sunshine stars to a sixth place finish on the last season, missing out on a continental ticket on the last day of the league and left sours memories of supporters of the club.
This may have contributed to his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, and head East to join Abia Warriors. Will Boboye take Abia Warriors to greater heights this season? He sure does have the qualities!

2. Maurice Cooreman – Akwa United
With over 10 year experience in the league, 72-year-old Maurice Cooreman is man to watch out for in 2016.
Cooreman takes over from Zachary Baraje  who led Akwa Ibom to its first FA cup trophy last season.
He led Ocean Boys to the NPFL title in 2006, but was sacked in September 2006 and then rehired two weeks later. He managed Enyimba from October 2006 to November 2008 before his appointment as manager of Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko.

Cooreman has also managed NPA, Bendel Insurance, Lobi Stars and Gabros International, Kaduna United FC, Gombe United and Warri Wolves.

3. Kabiru Suleiman Dogo – Nasarawa United
Unarguably! Nasarawa United had the best second half of the 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League season and the man behind this success is Kabiru Suleiman Dogo.
Dogo took over the team after ex-coach Mohammed Babaganaru returned to Kano Pillars in mid-season and he led the team to away wins at Kano Pillars, Sunshine Stars, Bayelsa United and FC Ifeanyi Ubah, all in the second half of the season.

After the appointment of Dogo as coach of the Solid Minerals, the team accrued the most points by any side in the league.
He began as an interim coach at the start of the second stanza of the current campaign and after racking up the wins, Dogo has performed even better than his predecessor.

4. Ladan Bosso – El Kanemi Warriors
The former Abia Warriors coach Ladan Bosso was appointed as new coach of Nigeria premier league side El Kanemi Warriors.

Bosso took over from Kelechi Emeteole, who ensured the Maiduguri club were not relegated this past season after they finished 13th  on the league table with 49 points from 38 matches.
His job is to take the club to greater heights and he sure can after a long career in the local league that has seen him Wikki Tourists and Kano Pillars.

5. Samson Unanuel – Sunshine Stars
Unanuel who succeeds Kennedy Boboye as Akure Gunners gaffer has been given a target to win next season’s Nigeria Professional Football League title. All eyes will certainly be on him in 2016!
Unuanel led Kwara United to the NPFL in 2014, but was replaced by the club management before the 2015 NPFL season started.

Worthy Mentions
Abdu Maikaba (Ex-Wikki Tourist coach), Kadiri Ikhana (Ex-Enyimba coach), Paul Aigbogun (Ex-Warri Wolves coach). They are all without jobs at the moments but are on hot demands.
