Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has reportedly deployed a
deputy inspector general of police, an assistant inspector general of
police and three police commissioners to the State for the rerun.
Police sources had also disclosed on Tuesday that over 5, 000 officers,
as well as plain-clothes detectives, surveillance helicopter for aerial
patrol, gun boats, speed boats and anti-riot personnel from the Mobile
Police Unit, will also be on hand in Bayelsa to keep the peace during
and after voting.
IGP Arase has also placed a curfew in the State. Movement will be
restricted to the hours between 6am to 6pm during the voting exercise.
