The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, says every community must be involved in the scheme of affairs in the state.
The
governor added that he was determined to keep faith with the promise he
made during electioneering to run an all-inclusive government.
Ambode
spoke while inaugurating the ‘One Lagos Fiesta’ at the Agege Stadium on
Sunday, explaining that the programme was an initiative of his
administration to usher in the New Year.
He said,
“The fiesta is designed to hold between December 27, 2015, and January
1, 2016, simultaneously in five locations across the state including
Epe, Badagry, Ikorodu, Agege and Lagos Island.”
Ambode
recalled that the last time he visited the Agege Stadium was during
electioneering, saying he was back to fulfill one of the promises he
made then.
“We want
every youth and parent to enjoy what others have been enjoying. That is
why we have decided to have a five-day concert that will be done in
Badagry, Agege, Epe, Ikorodu and Lagos Island,” he added.
The
governor said his administration was working hard to make Lagos better,
just as he assured that good things would start happening in Agege, and
the whole of Lagos.
The
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, commended
the governor for showing love to the people of the state, especially
Agege, and promised the people that government would ensure that the
next edition was bigger and better.
Prominent musicians, including D’banj and Seun Kuti, performed at the fiesta.
